Sydney van Rensburg

Sydney van Rensburg, C.P.G.A Head Professional at Merritt Golf & Country club has been teaching golf since 2002.

Sydney started playing golf at the age of 16 at the prestigious Stellenbosch Golf Club, located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa and soon after played for the A-team of Paul Roos Gymnasium, All-Boys high school. In 2002 Sydney started his PGA Apprenticeship at the Central London Golf Centre, London, UK. On his return to South Africa in 2004, Sydney finished his PGA Degree course, under PGA Head Professional Arnold Mentz, at Stellenbosch Golf Club where his love for golf started.

In 2005 Sydney started his own Golf Academy, hosting after-school golf programmes at various schools in the Western Cape Area.

In 2008, Sydney joined the Media & Broadcasting Company, Rat Race Media who produced programmes such as ‘Hooked on Golf’ amongst others for satellite television sporting stations in South Africa.

In 2010, Sydney and his family relocated to Merritt BC where he took on the position of Associate Professional under Andy Wahnschaff.

Since, Sydney has become the Head Teaching Professional at Merritt Golf & Country Club.

Sydney coaches golfers of all ages and skill levels. Over the past two years Sydney has introduced a Junior Programme at the Merritt Golf & Country Club which has grown to just under 100 junior golfers through afterschool clinics, holiday camps and individual lessons.
